How to Learn What Keywords Your Competitors are Using
You could sit down and brainstorm key words about your business, but why start from scratch? Why not start by seeing what key words your competition is using? If a number of your competitors are using certain key words, it’s likely because they’re getting results with them. Here are a few ways to find out what they’re doing.
If you’re not sure what keywords are, it may be helpful to first visit the tutorial Key Words: What Are They and What Do You Do with Them?
Notes:
The layout has changed a little on Google’s Keyword tool, but all the information is still all there. To find the Google Keyword Tool, just type in “Google Keyword Tool” in a search engine and the top link should get you there.
There are a lot of ways to use the keyword information you collect through these methods, and a lot more tips we could talk about.
For example, here’s a tip I can explain for you in case you noticed–did you see how StopForeclosure.com added the key word “foreclosure” twice in their key word list, but had it spelled wrong one of those times? That’s in case someone types “stop forclosure” (without the “e” in the middle–a common misspelling) in to a search engine. Using common misspellings as key words is one way to find traffic is something we’ll talk more about in another tutorial.
There are tons of things you can learn from your competitors if you know how.
